Before remodeling in the 1920s, the Strand's facade was quite different, as shown in the
photo below.  A large arch 
marked the entrance. The two Moorish towers were part
of the original design
and were retained in the remodeling.  To the right of the Strand Theatre is the
corner of Ashley and Jefferson streets, with the Hotel Eggmont beyond.
