D-40  THE ELENA FLATS 122 EAST DUVAL STREET DATE: ca. 1909 ARCHITECT & BUILDER: Unknown First listed in the city directory in
1910, the Elena Flats is one of the last remaining examples of the
small rooming houses that prospered in Downtown during the early years
of the twentieth century. The building has traits of the Colonial
Revival style, including classical columns, a balustrade, and dentilled
and bracketed cornice. The second-story facade features three
curious foliate ornaments of unknown historical reference.
