KNIGHT CROCKERY COMPANY BUILDING
12-14 EAST BAY STREET
DATE: 1902
ARCHITECT & BUILDER: Unknown
The Knight Crockery Company was
established in 1881 under the name of Mumby, Stockton, and
Knight. The firm sold household furnishings, china, glassware,
and crockery. The manager of the business was Raymond D. Knight,
Sr., who served as Jacksonville's Mayor during the Spanish-American
War. This building was constructed in 1902, when the Knight
Crockery Company moved into it. Although smaller in scale than
the adjoining Dyal Upchurch Building (D-27), the facade of this
three-story structure has keystones above the second and third-story
windows and gray bricks similar to its larger neighbor. In 1985
it was renovated for office use.
